
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary J. Markiewicz, who’s battle with Pancreatic Cancer ended on April 24th, 2025, in the care of his loving wife at his home in Brooklyn, Michigan. Gary was born on June 14th, 1950, to Joseph and Kathryn Markiewicz. He graduated from Henry Ford College, Michigan Technological University, and Lawrence Technological University in which he achieved bachelor’s degrees in science and electrical engineering. He dedicated 33 years to DTE Energy of Newport, MI as a Design Engineer. He married Shelly Markiewicz on February 29th, 2008. He enjoyed traveling and went on numerous cruises throughout his life. He loved to cook, was an avid golfer and a dedicated member of the Brooklyn Moose. He was the designated Chef for many holiday meals over the years, in which the entire family is thankful. Although our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in knowing he is at peace. He is survived by his wife, Shelly; his sister, Glennis Swider; three sons, Scott Markiewicz, Jason (LeAnn) Markiewicz, and Timothy (Samantha) Markiewicz. Additionally, he is survived by his four stepchildren, and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Connie Zaffino. He will be dearly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Cremation will take place. To honor him, a celebration of life will take place on June 14th, 2025, at 12:00p.m. at The Moose – Brooklyn Branch, in Brooklyn, MI.
