David was born on May 16, 1946, in South Charleston, West Virginia. He graduated from St. Albans High School in 1964. Following his graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy. David served 2 years as a Radioman stationed in the Philippines during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge he enrolled in the Fine Arts program at West Virginia State University. His love of painting and drawing continued throughout his life as he pursued other careers in Surveying and Social Work.
Hobbies and interests included movies, military history, focusing on the Civil War and WWII, and military models, for which he won awards for his focus on detail. He was an avid reader and could not imagine a home without shelves and shelves of books. David had a love for creatures of all types and was always willing to take in one more pet. His dog Stella is especially grateful and will miss their long walks together.

David is also survived by stepchildren Eric Wood, of Adrian, Alison Wood (James Hessler), of Belleville, his sister Susan Pauley, and niece Amy Atkins (Doug) of South Charleston, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Nancy (Blevins) Mallory, and his brother Lawrence Mallory. David’s kind manner and dazzling smile will be missed.
