ADRIAN, Mich. The City of Adrian has officially appointed Lisa Hewitt-Cruz as the new Community Development Director.

The announcement was made during this week’s Adrian City Commission meeting, where Hewitt-Cruz was met with applause and praise from both commissioners and members of the public.

She brings years of experience in housing, community planning, and federal grant programs, having previously served the City of Adrian as a housing specialist and worked extensively at the state and federal level.

While speaking with WLEN, Hewitt-Cruz said her role will focus on collaborating with local residents, businesses, and city leaders to support neighborhood growth and development.

“I will have an open door policy. Anybody can come in, make an appointment, come see me,” Hewitt-Cruz stated, “Give me your vision. Meet with the Mayor and the City Comissioners to learn about what their vision is and also be part of the zoning. And planning for just great things to come.”

Later, the mayor praised her commitment to transparency, customer service, and a strong long-term vision for the city. Hewitt-Cruz says she’s ready to get to work and is looking forward to helping Adrian grow—one block, one business, and one neighborhood at a time.
