
Constance Longstreet (Coni), passed away peacefully at the age of 87 and into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, April 12, 2025, surrounded by her children, at Grand Village Assisted Living under the care of CorsoCare Hospice of Michigan. Coni was born in the farming community of Bentheim, MI to Harold and Agnes Berens on March 8, 1938. She learned to work on the farm at an early age. As a young girl her passion was working with her father doing chores, driving the John Deere tractor, fixing cars, tractors and trucks, feeding the hunting dogs, chickens, and cows, and going raccoon hunting. Her father loved ‘raccoon huntin’. Her mother loved making homemade cakes, pies and bread, of which she thoroughly enjoyed. Coni attended a one-room school there. She and her parents moved to Burnips at a young age. They had a hobby farm with lots of chickens, hunting dogs, and a horse which she loved to ride. She loved the memories of attending the old brick church with her parents and singing the old the hymns and going to Sunday School. With her friends, she loved playing “Kick the Can” and “Whistle and Holler,” and playing in the feed mill in Burnips. She loved the sweet smell of oats, barley and wheat. She and her girlfriend were both 14 years old and would ride their horses all around the Burnips area almost every day in the spring and summer. She also has a pet raccoon, Ringo, that followed her everywhere she went in town. Coni loved the good ole’ days and being raised in the country. She attended Hopkins High School and graduated in 1956. She was involved in the drama club and performed in plays. She was very athletic, and her favorite sports were track and softball. Coni played softball for years, and was on teams with her brother, Doug, and her daughter, Candy. She also loved to water-ski at Dumont Lake, and ride dirt bikes. She loved bowling and held a high average. She loved playing cards, such as euchre, setback, pinochle, etc. Euchre was her favorite. Later in life, she and her husband Wayne moved to Irons MI. they both loved to fish on List lake that their property was on. She loved golfing at Fawn Crest golf course in Wellston, MI. Coni was very close to her faithful four-legged friend, Mr. Peanuts. He was her faithful friend for over 9 years. He was at her side to the very end. Coni is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Agnes Berens, and stepmother, Dorthy Berens, her sister, Beverly Berens, and her brother, Doug Berens, her late husbands’, Carroll Brewer and Wayne Longstreet. She is survived by her three children: Randall (Debbie) Brewer, Candis (Tony) Malcolm, Tami (Tom) Amante, and her 5 grandchildren; Chad, (Jessica) Brewer, Heidi, (Eric) Piper, Amy (Ryan) Ringleka, Jennifer, (Brent) Wenzel, and Sean Malcolm; and her great grandchild, Isaiah Malcolm, stepchildren: Dan (Dee) Longstreet, Pat (David) Brown, the late David Longstreet, Deb Weigold, Diane, (and her son Steve Longstreet), and the late Rick Longstreet. And her special friend, Lee Mcleod Coni had a great sense of humor with friends and family, and a “getter done attitude! She will be sorely missed. The family wishes to thank the entire care team at Grand Village Assisted Living and CorsoCare Hospice, for their compassion, and exceptional care given to their mother.
