Tecumseh, MI – The Tecumseh Public Schools Board of Education voted this week to move forward with plans to install solar panels on the middle and high school’s new roof.

The project is estimated to cost $4.7 million dollars and is projected to save the district an estimated $2 million immediately and provide additional savings of $125,000 annually by offsetting electricity costs over time.

Director of Operations Josh Mattison noted that funding will be coming from federal grants with nothing coming out of the school’s budget. If funding from grants is not secured, the project would be put on hold.
