
Adrian, MI – There will be a Household Hazardous Waste collection event in Adrian in early May. Anderson Development and Wacker Chemical will be facilitating the event on May 10th.
Julie Maurer, Materials Management Program Coordinator for Lenawee County, is spreading the word to the community about the drop-off opportunity.
Anderson Development, at 1415 East Michigan Street in Adrian, will be the host from 8am-Noon.
This event free of charge all Lenawee County residents, and proof of residency may be required. This event is not for commercial businesses, and the maximum amount a resident can bring is 10 gallons. No container should be larger than five gallons, and do not mix chemicals.
The first 100 vehicles to drop of household hazardous waste will receive a coupon for one free flower hanging basket, which can be obtained at the Stubnitz Environmental.
Accepted materials include:
PAINT: Oil based paint, cleaners, and thinners. Includes aerosols, adhesives, roof tar, and driveway sealers.
HOUSEHOLD CLEANERS: Acid and caustic products.
BATTERIES: All household batteries, lead acid automotive batteries.
AUTOMOTIVE FLUIDS: Motor oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, grease, fuels.
HERBICIDES/PESTICIDES: Liquids, solids, and aerosols in residential sizes.
MERCURY: Thermometers, thermostats, fluorescent bulbs & tubes, and elemental mercury.
MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS: Nail polish, glue/waxes, lighter fluid, 16 oz. propane gas tanks
Not accepted materials include:
Explosives
Ammunition
Other gas cylinders
Radioactive wastes (e.g., smoke/CO₂ detectors)
Ballasts
AC units
Pharmaceuticals
Tires (stay tuned for information on Lenawee County’s tire collection event)
Electronics (take these to Goodwill Headquarters on Division Street instead)
Any unknown material
