It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerry Lee Welch, a beloved brother, uncle, and cherished friend. Jerry left this world peacefully on April 10, 2025, at Maple Ridge Farms Assisted Living, in Hudson, MI. He was 76 years old.

Born on February 8, 1949, in Hillsdale, Michigan, Jerry was the son of Milton Elmer and Dorothy Elizabeth (McNett) Welch. After graduating high school, Jerry honorably served his country in the United States Navy for 26 years, a commitment that shaped much of his character and instilled a sense of discipline and purpose. Upon leaving the Navy, he found a fulfilling career with the State of Illinois, having previously worked for several other companies.

He had a passion for drawing and painting, often immersing himself in the creative process. Friends and family will fondly remember how he would light up while dancing or sharing a glass of wine, always finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. His carefree spirit and zest for life were infectious, leaving a lasting imprint on all who knew him.

He is survived by his brothers, Jim (Carolyn) Welch and Leroy Welch, and his sisters, Shirley Keil and Peggy (Danny) Russell. He is also remembered fondly by his significant other, Lynda Nolan, and leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will carry his memory forward. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers Milton Jr., William, and John Welch, as well as sisters Olive (Fred) Stoyk, Barbara (Richard) Anspaugh, and Louise (Alton) Taylor, and brother-in-law Delmer Keil.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be help at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson with Pastor Ken Nichols officiating. Following the service, full military honors will be conducted by Hannan-Colvin Post #180 of Hudson. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.
