Debra Sue Cole (née Stull), 68, of Hudson, Michigan, passed away on April 7, 2025.
She was born on September 5, 1956, in Coldwater, Michigan, and was the daughter of Beverly and Roger Messenger. Debra was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend whose kindness and strength touched everyone who knew her. In 1985, Debra met the love of her life, Jollie Cole. The two were married on November 22, 1996. Together, they built a life full of cherished memories, laughter, and unwavering support for one another.
Debra worked for many years at RC Plastics, where she was admired for her strong work ethic and dedication. Outside of work, she found joy in tending to her garden and spent countless hours canning the fruits of her labor. After retiring, Debra embraced the simple pleasures of life—frequenting yard sales in search of unique knick-knacks, enjoying quiet days with her husband, and welcoming visits from family and friends. Above all, her greatest joy came from being with her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and wholeheartedly cherished.
She is survived by her parents, Roger and Beverly Messenger of Reading, MI; her sons, James Schmitt of Hudson, MI, and Jesse (Stacia) Schmitt of Pittsford, MI; daughters, Teresa (Zane) Stockford of Morenci, MI, and Judy (Genaro) Reyes of Arkansas. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Shank; her brother, Steven Stull; and eleven grandchildren, Caleb, Madalynn, George, Hazel, Ruby, Andy, Amy, Robbie, Yvonne, Stephanie, and Taylor.
Debra was preceded in death by her husband, Jollie Cole; her son, Greg Cole; her brother, Roger Lee Messenger; and her four grandparents.
Debra will be remembered for her generous spirit, kind heart, and the way she always put others before herself. She touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.
