Adrian, MI – The City of Adrian Board of Commissioners recently voted to appoint Adrian Police Chief Vince Emrick as the city’s new full-time administrator in a 4 to 2 vote, with Mayor Angie Heath siding with Commissioners Doug Miller, Kelly Castleberry and Gordon Gauss.

The Commission was set to discuss the hiring of a search firm to find candidates for the administrator position at their regular meeting Monday night. Commissioner Gordon Gauss then introduced a motion to appoint Emrick, who had been serving as acting city administrator, to the full-time position. According to Mayor Heath, this struck commissioners, and her, by surprise…

Voting against the motion were Commissioners Robert Behnke and Mary Roberts. Emrick has not yet entered into employment negotiations with the city. If he does, he is expected to resign his position as police chief.
