Shirley H. Cushing, age 89, of Tipton, MI, went to be with the Lord on April 8, 2025 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born January 15, 1936, in Grundy, VA, the daughter of Ted and Ethel (Yates) Shortridge. On February 4, 1961, she married Larry L. Cushing, Sr. in Detroit, Michigan.
He preceded her in death on January 19, 2001.
Shirley was a member of Tecumseh Assembly of God where she was a greeter and Sunday School teacher for many years. She loved cooking, gardening, and canning. Shirley cherished her family, especially the time spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Terri Smithson of Tecumseh, MI, Donald (Niki) Cushing of Tipton, MI, and Steven (LeeAnn) Cushing of Tipton, MI; thirteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren; brother, Harold Shortridge of Temperance, MI; and sister-in-law,
Nancy (Mark) Trullinger, Portland, OR.
In addition to her husband Larry, Sr., she was preceded in death by, her son Larry Jr., grandson, Larry III, great granddaughter, MaKayla Gray; and brother,
James Shortridge, Sr.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Purse & Son Funeral Home, Tecumseh, MI with Pastor Mitchell Frost officiating.
Interment will follow at Tipton Cemetery.
Visitation will also take place, Saturday April 12, 2025 at Purse & Son Funeral Home, Tecumseh, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.
