
Kenneth Roger DeRemer, age 82, of Tecumseh, MI, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. He was born on August 10, 1942, in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Robert John and Marian Virginia (Houghton) DeRemer. He grew up in Taylor, MI, and in 1960 received his high school diploma from the Taylor schools. Ken then attended and earned his BA degree from Adrian College, where he was a founding member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He finished his education with a Master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University.
Ken was a dedicated and respected school teacher who taught in the Adrian Public School system for thirty-seven and a half years. He became a member of the Kiwanis Club of Tecumseh in 2012, and he served as Secretary from 2015-2023. In 2016, in recognition of his commitment and dedication to the organization, the club awarded him with the George F. Hixson Fellowship Award. Ken was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol from 2016-2025, where he rose to the rank of Captain. In 2024, the group bestowed on him the National Aerospace Education Award.
Ken is survived by his son Dwayne; his siblings, Mike (Jessie) DeRemer, Judy Shrewsbury, David (Leslie) DeRemer, and Susan DeRemer; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Richard.
According to Ken’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Fairfield Baptist Church, 1296 Seneca Street, Adrian, Michigan 49221. Memorial donations may be made to the Civil Air Patrol
