Adrian, MI – The City of Adrian Utilities Department will hold a public meeting on the proposed Wastewater Treatment Plant & Sanitary Sewer Improvements project for the purpose of receiving comments from interested persons.

The meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 16th at the City Chambers Building at 159 E. Maumee St.

The purpose of the proposed project is to replace, repair, or upgrade critical sanitary sewer infrastructure at the WWTP, Broad St pump station, and various sanitary sewer locations throughout the City of Adrian.

Project construction will involve:

• Replacement of Broad St force mains

• Broad St Pump Station improvements

• Design & Implement Inflow & Infiltration (I&I) Study

• Repair or replacement of sanitary sewer with Grade 4 and Grade 5 defects

• WWTP electrical upgrades

• WWTP digester cover replacements

• WWTP appurtenance replacements

Impacts of the proposed project include:

Majority of construction will commence at the City’s WWTP with minor impacts for sewer repair and replacement throughout the city. The Broad Street force main will be replaced along its current alignment that runs adjacent to the River Raisin from the WWTP to the Broad Street Pump Station located adjacent to Island Park.

The estimated cost to users for the proposed project will be approximately $11,500,000 to be financed over 20 years through low interest Clean Water State Revolving Loan Fund (CWSRF) program. This equates to approximately $7.33 per month per REU, and $2.22 per month per REU after existing debts are paid in 2027. Additional details are included in the draft project plan.

Copies of the draft plan detailing the proposed project are available for inspection at: 135 E. Maumee St, Utilities Director’s office.

Written comments received before the meeting record is closed on April 23rd will receive responses in the final project planning document. Written documents should be sent to Aaron Hacker at AHacker@manniksmithgroup.com.
