Dan Allen VanEtten, age 67, of Adrian, passed away suddenly at Toledo Hospital on Sunday, March 23, 2025. He was born in Adrian on August 31, 1957 to the late Dan Oliver and Wanda Mae (Spencley) Van Etten. Dan graduated from Sand Creek Schools; and then on May 15, 1982, he married Melissa (Lissa) Elliott in Adrian, and she survives. Dan worked for Ervin Amasteel in Adrian for 44 years, retiring in 2020. He performed such jobs as maintenance, crane operator, and furnace operator.
Throughout his life, Dan’s greatest enjoyment and pride was his children and grandchildren. He attended as much of their school functions and sporting events as he could. Dan was a very lighthearted individual, always cracking jokes; and had a heart of gold when it came to helping anyone that needed help. He was the handyman who could fix anything. In his free time, he loved to make metalwork sculptures – giving them to people when completed, listening to rock and roll on his patio with the fireplace going, motorcycles, and muscle cars.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of nearly 43 years, Lissa; children, Luke (Karen), Justin (Ashley), and Bethany VanEtten; grandchildren, Everett, Daniel, Jaiden, Kylie, and Isla; siblings, DeWayne (Wendy) VanEtten, Doug (Carla) VanEtten, Debra (Todd) Zakrajsek, Denise (Gary Clavette) VanEtten, and Darlene (Glen) McMunn; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Dan will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian. Graveside services will follow at approximately 2:15 PM, at Oakwood Cemetery in Adrian, with Pastor Maryann Reimund, officiating.
