Adrian, MI – The Adrian City Commission heard a presentation about the Planned Unit Development proposed for the property where Bixby Hospital used to be. Scott Gibson, speaking on behalf of the developer, was asked by Mayor Angie Heath to be in attendance at the recent study session to address questions posed by the community.

The Planning Commission approved the PUD earlier this month for the 63-unit single-family pocket community concept. The plan must also be approved by the City Commission. Mayor Heath told WLEN News that she is happy to see a blighted building come down, and that housing has been something members of the Commission want to see more of. She did acknowledge that there are two sides to the development…those that want ‘low income’ housing, and others that do not.

Mayor Heath told WLEN News that the Planned Unit Development will be presented as an ordinance, with a first and second reading. This timeline will give residents more opportunity to look over the plans. The Commission did not take action at their recent meeting, and there is no set timeline to do so.
