Paul Arthur Goetz, age 88, of Blissfield, died March 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family while under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. He was born at home in Deerfield Township on December 18, 1936, the youngest of three children from the union of the late Arthur and Adalena (Tagsold) Goetz.

Paul was raised on the farm in rural Deerfield and graduated from Deerfield High School with the Class of 1955. He married the former Ann Katherine Marks on December 2, 1967, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palmyra. They lovingly raised two daughters by their examples of strong moral principles and strong work ethics. Paul devoted himself to Ann for over 57 years and leaves behind an incredible legacy of love.

Farming was in Paul’s blood, and he proudly worked the land virtually his entire life. He retired and sold his farm in 1998. His experience on the farm lent him technical expertise in fixing anything a family member may need repaired. So many would say he creatively designed numerous apparatuses to make a common chore a little easier. Lutheran by faith, he was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served as a longtime deacon and participated as a member of a traveling dartball team. In earlier years, he was active in 4-H, and co-led the Deerfield Lucky Clovers with his wife Ann. In later years they enjoyed traveling across Michigan and several states with their camper. They were blessed with two vacations in Hawaii. In the last several years, he rarely missed a televised Detroit Tiger’s game and he enjoyed putting puzzles together. He is remembered for his generous and kind-hearted spirit, and his love for his family, always devoting time to being in the company of his beloved grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Ann, are his daughters, Suzette Brown and Heidi (Chuck) Emerson both of Blissfield; four grandchildren, Isaak Brown of Elwood, Indiana and Elizabeth Brown, Amanda (JR) Iffland, and Brad Emerson; four great-grandchildren, Blake, Garrett, Samantha, and Lane; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nancy (Ronald) Benzler of Adrian; as well as several nieces, nephews, and Godchildren. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his two sisters, Betty (Gerald) Sell and Barbara (Billie) Phillips.

Memorial services in the coming days are pending, and details will be posted as soon as they are scheduled.
