Jean Rae, also affectionately known as Mom and Gramsy, was ushered into God’s presence on Monday, February 24, 2025. Surrounded by the saving grace of Christ and the love, thoughts, and prayers of family and friends.

She was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on January 3, 1932. She grew up there and graduated from McAllister College. She married her beloved “Bud” Rae on June 5, 1953. They moved to Houston, Texas in 1961 and had a wonderful lasting impact upon their community as they raised their three children.

For 55 years she was known as a loving wife to Bud, who passed away in 2008. She was a caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her son, Dr. Scott (Sally) Rae, son Dr. Mark (Melissa) Rae, and daughter, Sally (Joy Garrow); grandsons, Ryan (Anne) Booth, Sean (Anna) Rae, Taylor Rae, Cameron Rae, and Austin Rae; great grandchildren, Ellen Booth, June Booth, Jackson Rae, Miles Rae and Merrick Rae.

Jean was one-of-a-kind in her love, devotion and fierce support of her loved ones, peppered with a good dose of moxie and gumption. She touched and impacted so many lives through her support of Young Life, her leadership with Bible Study Fellowship, as an alto in Second Baptist Choir, and as a dedicated prayer warrior with the prayer ministry at Second Baptist in Houston.

She leaves behind a legacy of generosity, graciousness, and understated elegance. As a dear friend of hers recently said, “She has always been the perfect lady, and she is certainly going out as one.” Rejoice with all of us as she meets the Lord face to face and hears, “Well done good and faithful servant.”

Cremation has taken place and there will be no services.  If you so desire to make a donation in Jean’s memory, please donate to the family for future designation to Charlotte Stephenson Manor Activities Fund.
