
John M. Carter, age 80, of Tecumseh, MI died in the comfort of his home surrounded by his children and wife on February 12th, 2025 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born on February 19th, 1944 to Wanda (Young) and Leroy Carter.
He married the love of his life, Carolyn (Denz) on September 9th, 1967. They spent 57 beautiful years together. They met while roller-skating and enjoyed this for many years.
He will be remembered for his humor and lively antics; the stories are endless! He loved golfing, perch fishing, bowling and Monday breakfast with the guys. But above all else, he loved hunting trips with his sons and good friends. Despite his health challenges the last few years, he looked forward to bear camp and was able to shoot a 200 pound black bear this last fall. He cherished conversations and time spent with his daughter. He enjoyed watching his grand-daughter’s sporting events and special moments. He logged many hours of phone calls with family and friends; he loved to catch up and check on those he loved.
He worked at Ford Motor Company for over 35 years and was always a proud Ford owner.
He is survived by his wife and two children; Denise (Stephen) Cook. Kirk (Sierra) Carter. Grandchildren; Kayla (Sky) Carter, Courtney (Sean) Stubli, Allison Cook, Krista Cook, LilyAna Buffum and Nola Buffum. Brothers; Jerry (Jean) Carter, Jeff (Carol) Carter, Bruce Carter and Dennis (Mimi) Carter.
He is proceeded in death by son, Michael John Carter, his sister Debra Carter and his parents.
Per John’s request, cremation has taken place.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, February 28th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Purse & Son Funeral Home in Tecumseh, MI.
Burial of John’s cremains will take place at Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh, MI at later date with immediate family.
