Adrian, MI – Lenawee County Dog License Applications for 2025 are now open. The County is reminding dog owners that it is that time of year again to apply for your 2025 dog license. The State of Michigan mandates that owners of canines aged four months or older must apply for a license. Not only is it a legal requirement, but it’s also a crucial tool in ensuring your pet’s safety.

Here’s what you need to know…

Identification Tag: A county license tag is essential for your dog’s identification. In case your furry friend gets lost, this tag aids law enforcement in quickly reuniting you with your beloved pet.

Application Requirements: A valid Rabies Certificate is mandatory and must be presented annually to obtain the license. A paper copy of this certificate is required. Check your Rabies Certificate, as spay/neuter information might already be noted under the gender of your dog.

Renewal Process: Licenses can be renewed either by mail or in person.

Special Cases: Service dogs qualify for a zero dollar fee, but require proof of their service status. Licenses must be purchased within 30 days of relocating to Lenawee County or receiving the Rabies vaccine for a new puppy.

For more information or to apply, visit the Lenawee County Treasurer’s office or go to the Lenawee County website.
