
HARVEY MELVIN SPENCE, age 86 years of Hudson, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at
his home. He was born on March 20, 1938, in Trenton, Michigan, the son of Clarence P. and Marie G.
(Bond) Spence.
After graduating from Flatrock High School, Harvey joined the United States Army. He proudly served
his country for two years. When he returned, he started a 30 year plus career at Dundee Cement
Company in Dundee. Harvey enjoyed weightlifting, painting, crafting, drawing and good conversation
talking politics.
Harvey was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elaine A. (Bodrie) Spence on March 25, 2014. He
was comforted by his children, Renee (George) Maree, Nanette (Rick) Roberts, Angela (Steve Rogers)
Combs, Howard (Beth) Williams and Thomas (Melanie) Spence, 9 grandchildren, 14 great
grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren, a sister, Sue Thompson Rust and brother-in-law, Dennis
Bunch. Preceding him in death besides his wife are his parents, Clarence Spence and Marie Spence
Thompson, son, Robert Williams, son-in-law, Erin Combs, grandsons, Gregory Kalasz, Matthew
Roberts and Christopher Williams, great granddaughters, Harper and Raina Smith, brothers, Clarence
“Butch”, Alan, Russell and Edward Spence, Vernon “Buzz” Thompson and sister, Kay Bunch.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 26,
2025, at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park in Adrian with Father Todd Koenigsknecht officiating. Military
Honors will be conducted by Hannan-Colvin Post #180 American Legion of Hudson.
