Adrian, MI – The Lenawee County Board of Commissioners approved the execution of a Michigan Department of Health and Human Services grant for a new renovation project for the Maurice Spear Campus.

At their recent meeting, Commissioners voted to accept the grant, which will allow the county to renovate the existing hygiene infrastructure in the campus detention unit, as well as to update flooring, lighting, furniture, and finishes.

This Juvenile Justice grant of approximately $1.3 million dollars will cover the majority of the project cost, which is about $1.8 million, with $500,000 in matching funds approved from the contingency division of the Board’s Capital Fund.

Renovation related to this project will be worked on concurrently with the larger Maurice Spear Campus Renovation & Expansion Project, which began last year.

Commissioners also voted to accept quotes from several vendors for furniture, fixtures, and equipment for office and classroom furnishings for the Maurice Spear Campus Renovation & Expansion Project.

The county is contracting directly with these vendors to ensure the purchases are tax-exempt and to utilize their government procurement platforms.
