Angela Jean (Gerth) Whittemore, age 71, of Onsted, MI, passed away on February 14th, 2025, after a lengthy battle with cancer.   Angie was born on June 23rd, 1954, in Adrian, MI, to Wanda (Kuhn) and Carl Gerth. Angie grew up in Rome Center and graduated from Onsted High School in 1972. After graduating, she continued her academic studies at Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek. Angie spent most of her professional career working in various quality assurance roles for Peerless Gear at their Clinton, MI manufacturing plant. While at Peerless Gear, Angie was on the committee that coordinated an annual Christmas event and gift exchange for disabled and disadvantaged kids. Later in life, Angie became an Auxiliary member of the American Legion and joined the Post-550 Legion Riders. Riding her own Honda Gold Wing trike, Angie loved spending time on poker and plaque runs with that fantastic group of people.  Angela is survived by her husband of 48 years, Otis Whittemore; her two children, William Whittemore (Nicole) and Brandan Whittemore; her two grandchildren, Claudia and Riley Whittemore; her brother Rodney Gerth (Denise); and numerous other relatives and friends who loved her dearly. Angela was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Wanda Gerth; her brother, Rodger Gerth; and her sister, Christine Wheaton.  At Angela’s request, there will not be a formal visitation, funeral, or memorial service held. Alternatively, the family will arrange a celebration of life gathering that will be scheduled later in the spring or early summer. The family will post the event details on social media once arrangements have been made.  The family would like to thank everyone who encouraged and prayed for Angie throughout her cancer battle. That support, combined with her faith and the exceptional care from Dr. Kathleen Beekman, extended Angela’s original cancer prognosis from four to six weeks to over 5 years!  Rest in peace, Angela. You will always be in our hearts.  Arrangements entrusted to Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
