Adrian, MI – The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of a scam. The LCSO says that they have received multiple calls stating that someone called Deputy Christopher Avery called them regarding a warrant for their arrest.
In one case the so-called ‘Deputy’ emailed a woman several attachments with the person’s name including an, “Order to Arrest from the United States District Court of Michigan.”
The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office says that if you receive a call like this, simply hang up because it is a scam. They do not make phone calls even remotely like that, and they do not have a deputy by that name.
The office reminds residents to never open an attachment from anyone you are not familiar with, especially if you are not expecting an email. If you have questions, contact the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office.
