Adrian, MI – The City of Adrian has approved a retirement agreement with City Administrator Greg Elliott…as well as an employment agreement with Adrian Police Chief Vince Emrick, who will fill in as acting City Administrator.

Elliott’s retirement, after serving just over 3 years as administrator, was announced when a resolution to approve his retirement appeared in the agenda for the February 3rd City Commission meeting.

Both the retirement agreement and Emrick’s employment agreement were approved by the commission during the Monday night meeting. While Emrick was appointed by a unanimous vote, Commissioner Gordon Gauss voted not to approve Elliott’s retirement agreement.

Adrian Mayor Angie Heath stated at the meeting that the terms of the retirement agreement fell under attorney-client privilege, which prevented the release of specific details to the public until after the agreement was approved.

WLEN News spoke with both Mayor Heath and Chief Emrick after the meeting, and we will hear from them in a future newscast. Elliott was absent from the meeting.
