Barney Chester Kurowicki – Tecumseh

Barney Chester Kurowicki, age 76, of Tecumseh, fell asleep and woke up in the arms of Jesus on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born in Saline on October 31, 1948, the son of the late Chester and Nadine (Ellendorf) Kurowicki. On November 7, 1975 in Palmyra, he married Kathlene Louise Marks and they shared 49 years together.

Barney proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After being discharged, he came back home and began farming which he did for most of his life. He also worked at the Britton Post Office, retiring in 2013. Barney was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Milan. He enjoyed spending time in Florida, bowling, golfing, boating and fishing. He served as a 4-H leader for the Britton-Macon groups. Barney was a social man and he loved talking with people.

Besides his wife Kathlene, Barney is survived by his children; Erin (Michael) Simone of Cinnaminson, NJ, Adam (Liane) Kurowicki of Britton, Sara (Martin) Strassner of Perrysburg, OH, and Jill (Craig) Heilmann of Manchester; his brothers, David (Wendy) Kurowicki of Tecumseh and Timothy (Deanna) Kurowicki of Clinton; a sister, Patricia Schwartz of Clinton; mother-in-law, Carma Marks of Blissfield; 11 grandchildren, Annabella and Lucas Simone, Jack, Lia, Eliana and Fern Kurowicki, Charlotte and Martin Strassner IV and Natalie, Lena and Levi Heilmann. Besides his parents, Barney was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Elmer Marks, and two brothers, Daniel and Michael Kurowicki.

Visitation for Barney will be on Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 2pm – 3pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Milan. Funeral services will follow at 3pm with Pastor Coleman Geraci officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeway Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 106 Dexter St. Milan, MI 48160.
