
Thomas George McKelvey, age 60, of Adrian, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the Hospice of Lenawee Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 26, 1964, in Adrian, Michigan to George and Johanna (Creter) McKelvey. Tom graduated from Adrian High School in 1982.
Tom pursued a career at Anderson Development for 29 and a half years working as a plant manager and chemical operator. When his time was complete at Andersen Development, Tom began working for Green Plains and then at Ervin Amasteel. His professional commitment was paralleled by his devotion to serving others. Tom was a member of the Madison Fire Department for 12 years, where he contributed to the safety and well-being of his community.
On August 10, 1991, Tom married Debra Lynn Reid at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Adrian, Michigan. Through their union they raised a son, Michael, and celebrated over 33 wonderful years together.
Tom had a passion for fostering connections and supporting his community. He served as the administrator of the Anyway County Scanner Facebook page, offering valuable information to local residents. He also competed in pool with the American Pool Players Association and previously served as its representative. Additionally, he was a member of the Adrian Eagles. An avid outdoorsman, Tom found joy in hunting and fishing—activities that reflected his love for nature and adventure. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, archery, watching NASCAR, playing roulette, and attending auctions.
To cherish his memory, Tom leaves his loving wife, Deb; a son, Michael McKelvey; and a brother, Karlo (Barbara) Herd. He was preceded in death by his father, George McKelvey; mother, Johanna McKelvey Duckworth; a sister, Susan McKelvey Baker; and his beloved dog, Bella.
Cremation has taken place with memorial services being held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian. Memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the service begins at 1:00 pm. Burial of cremains will take place at a later date in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian.
