Eusevio Humphrey Junior Martinez – Tecumseh

Eusevio “Humphrey” Junior Martinez, age 76, of Tecumseh, MI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at home, under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. He was born in Madison Township, MI on September 19, 1948, the son of the late Eusibo and Natividad (Montecinos) Martinez. He was joined in marriage with Tracy Leigh Sweetin on April 9, 2004 in Toledo, OH, and she survives.

Humphrey was a proud 1968 graduate of Madison High School and he went on to serve in the United States Army 101st Airborne Division. Following his service, he attended Lansing Community College where he received his Heavy Equipment Operator License. Humphrey put his skills to use as a dedicated employee of Dura Corporation in Adrian, MI and worked there until they closed, at which time he officially retired.

Humphrey was a member of the Tecumseh American Legion and the Tecumseh Eagles. When he wasn’t enjoying working in his garden or golfing, you could find him shooting pool, bowling, dancing, or rooting for the Michigan Wolverines football team.

In addition to his wife, Tracy, Humphrey is survived by his children, Valerie Martinez of Adrian, MI, Marquetta (Robert) Olivarez of Bay city, MI, and Cody Tomford of Tecumseh, MI; his siblings, Lionel Martinez of Universal City, TX, Josie Garza of Defiance, OH, Janey Sullins of Tennessee, and Rick Martinez of Corpus Christi, TX; ten grandchildren, Elliott Martinez, Aracely Martinez, Eusevio Martinez, Shyla Martinez, Eladio Martinez, Julien Martinez, Annika Martinez, Samira Garcia, Camden Tomford and Cash Tomford.

Humphrey was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Monica Martinez, a son, Jordan Tomford, siblings, Elpido Martinez, Donaciano Martinez, Irma Sanchez, and Alice Belisle.

Visitation for Humphrey will take place from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes, with military honors taking place at 5:00 pm. The family would ask that in honor of Humphrey’s love of Michigan football that visitors wear something maize and blue. Interment will take place at 11:30 am on Monday, February 3, 2025 at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Humphrey’s honor may be made to the American Heart Association.
