Jay G. Tressler – Tecumseh

Jay G. Tressler, age 94, passed away peacefully at his home in Tecumseh on January 9, 2025. Born on December 30, 1930, he was the son of Paul Edward Tressler and Jean Annie (Gibson) Tressler. He graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1948. Jay entered the Air Force in 1950 and did three tours in the Pentagon and was involved in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He flew over 350 eight-hour missions as a Communications-Electronics Officer in an EC-135C Airborne Command Post. During his military service Jay obtained both a bachelor’s and master’s degree. He retired from the Air Force as a Major after a twenty-five-year career and moved back to live in Tecumseh where he grew up. He graduated from the University of Toledo in 1983 with his law degree, and ran his own law firm until his retirement in 2011.

Jay is survived by his wife Joanne (Rogers); son John (Aimee) Tressler of Adrian; daughters Jane (Dave) Roberts of West Virginia and Jean Tressler of Tecumseh; six grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter Helen Tressler, and a sister, Doris DeWitt.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Adrian, MI with Pastor Joel Sarrault officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church. Military honors to be performed under the auspices of Tecumseh American Legion Post #34 and VFW Post #4187. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).Arrangements are under the care of the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes.
