Adrian, MI – The City of Adrian has been working on drafting a new Zoning Ordinance to address the policies contained in its 2022 Comprehensive Plan.
The City says that the Comprehensive Plan is the policy document that guides planning and zoning activities. Adrian received a grant from the Michigan Redevelopment Ready Communities program to fund 50% of the cost, and engaged planners from SmithGroup to do the work.
A steering committee… made up of members of the City of Adrian’s planning commission, zoning board of appeals, staff and a city commissioner… completed its review of a full draft of the new ordinance, which also incorporates a new zoning map for the City.
The draft ordinance has been forwarded to the Planning Commission for it to begin its review. It will be on their agenda for discussion at their meeting on February 4th.
Once the Planning Commission is satisfied with the draft Zoning Ordinance, it will hold a public hearing on it before making a recommendation on its adoption to the Adrian City Commission.
