
Jacqueline Smith, age 93, of Brooklyn, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Adrian Bay Rehab and Nursing Center. She was born on September 3, 1931, in Onaway, Michigan, to Kenneth and Christina (Smith) Everingham.
Jacqueline married Frederick James Smith on January 21, 1982, in Acapulco, Mexico. Together they celebrated almost 43 wonderful years together.
A dedicated and hardworking individual, Jacqueline worked as the dairy department manager at A&P Super Market until her retirement in 1982. Her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence left a lasting impression on those she worked with.
Jacqueline was a woman of faith and a devoted member of the Baptist community. In her leisure time, she found joy in fishing and vacationing in Florida. She also enjoyed bowling and had a passion for gardening—nurturing both flowers and vegetables with care. An avid reader, Jacqueline particularly loved cowboy books that transported her to adventurous worlds.
To cherish her memory, Jacqueline leaves her loving husband, Fred; three children, John (Tina) Bailey, Rick (Patty) Bailey, and Vicki (Dennis) Summerford; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one brother, Jim (Sandra) Everingham; and two sisters, Joan Schill and Linda Everingham; Jacqueline was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Lyle Everingham, Bob Everingham, and Donna Miller.
Cremation has taken place with no services at this time. Burial of cremains will take place in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian.
