Nancy was born on February 19, 1959, in Adrian, the daughter of Edward and Helen (Putnam) Cantrell. She graduated from Onsted High School with the Class of 1977 and later received education and training to become a nurse’s aide.
On July 30, 1983, she married John Atwell. They shared 20 years of making memories until his death in 2003.
Nancy worked as a nurse’s aide for many years at Provincial House and Lenawee Medical Care Facility. She also served as a caregiver to family members or anyone in need of her care. Nancy was a member of West Rome Baptist Church. Her favorite pastimes were sewing, reading and going to garage sales. Above all else, Nancy will be remembered as a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother by her family.
Left to cherish Nancy’s memory is her daughter, Tammy (Jason) Daniels; stepson, John (Jessica) Atwell Jr.; siblings, Gloria (Doug) Gilmore, Jimmy (Elsie) Cantrell, Linda (Lewis) Newell and Danny (Rae Jean) Cantrell; grandchildren, Brennon and Hemi. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Edward Cantrell, Larry Cantrell and Dennis Lee-Cantrell, sister, Rosemary Jones and a sister in infancy.
A visitation for Nancy will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, starting at 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian. Cremation will follow.
