Adrian, MI – The United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention has issued information on Norovirus…which has been spreading across the country. Symptoms of norovirus include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramps. Some people may also experience fatigue, low-grade fever, chills, headaches and muscle aches.

Most people improve within one to two days and recover completely, with no long-term health effects. There are, though, some people who become severely ill from norovirus, usually because they are unable to keep down fluids and become very dehydrated.

Norovirus is very contagious, but you can take steps to stop it from spreading. Wash hands well with soap and water. Do not prepare, handle food, or care for others when you are sick.

Be aware that Noroviruses are relatively resistant to heat and can survive temperatures as high as 145°F…and don’t forget to clean and disinfect surfaces.
