Sheri Lynn Cantu (Wild), age 68, of Adrian went to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, December 11, 2024 at Springcreek Nursing Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Adrian, MI, under the care of hospice.
Born on August 5, 1956 in Adrian, MI to Clement and Shirley (Wilber) Wild of Adrian, Sheri was the eldest of 3 children. She graduated from Adrian High School in 1976. She married Pedro Cantu on July 9, 1977, and they had 2 sons Anthony and Ramon. Sheri worked as a machine operator at Bohn Aluminum in Adrian with her father for several years where she made many friends. She loved nature and the outdoors, especially birds. Sheri was an avid bird watcher and loved her bird & squirrel feeders. She was a very social person who loved gathering frequently with friends. Sheri had many hobbies which included watching Nascar on TV & at MIS, fishing and swimming on many of the different lakes here in Michigan, playing cards, camping, rooting for the Tigers, Lions and U of M football and she was an avid reader of romance novels. She also had a beloved dog named Roxy, a Chihuahua, who she treated like her baby. Sheri was also a very independent spirit, never afraid to speak her mind.
In 2019 Sheri suffered a stroke losing mobility in the left side of her body, but it never slowed her down. She became a resident of Springcreek Nursing Home afterwards, and made her rounds daily in her wheel chair visiting and socializing with many. She was loved by the residents there, and all of the staff. She even earned the nick name Sher-bear because of her big generous heart. She was always thinking of others and what she could do to brighten someone’s day. She was a member of the Catholic Church Services at her home and attended Mass every Sunday. This is where Sheri found faith and accepted the Lord as her savior.
She is loved beyond measure by her family & friends and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her brothers John (Kathy) Wild of Toledo, Jeff (Tamra Carr) Wild of Adrian, her children Anthony Cantu of Adrian, Ramon (Heather) Cantu of Adrian, also five grandchildren, Avery, Anessa, Reece, Rowen & Jonah, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Clement & Shirley Wild & her infant brother James Wild.
A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2024 at Grace Point Evangelical Free Church, Adrian, MI with a luncheon to immediately follow. Cremation has taken place. A private burial will take place at a later date.
Contributions can be made in Sheri’s memory to the family to be used according to their wishes.
