Dolores Boldon, age 101, of Brooklyn, died Monday, December 23, 2024, at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital. She was born October 19, 1923, in Brooklyn, the daughter of Frank and Bertha (Keiber) Marr. After graduating from Brooklyn High School with the Class of 1941, Dolores went west to California, where she resided for over a year before returning to Michigan. She then obtained an Associate Degree in business from the former Cleary College in Ypsilanti.

In 1949, Dolores married the love of her life, John Edward Boldon. They made their home in Tecumseh where they raised four children before moving back to Brooklyn. They spent 65 years making memories together before his passing on January 21, 2014.

Dolores helped her parents run their family’s grocery store in Tecumseh until its closure. She then worked over 20 years as a clerk at Tecumseh Post Office. Dolores was a loyal member of the Brooklyn American Legion Wilber-Bartlett Post 315 Auxiliary, where she never missed band night, and often was the last to leave. Always active, she loved dancing and belonged to a bowling league in Brooklyn for many years. In retirement, Dolores lived for Bingo and gambling, and she and John traveled all over the United States trying their luck, often yielding success. Dolores was very optimistic and goal-oriented, which perhaps contributed to her long life. She was also very outgoing and social, and will be missed for her fun-loving personality.

Surviving to mourn her loss are her four children, John E. Boldon of Brooklyn, Robert T. (Vicki) Boldon of Adrian, Margaret L. Boldon (Vern Osenbaugh) of Brooklyn, and Michael D. Boldon of Brooklyn; four grandchildren, Jason, Jodi, Jessica and Stephanie; and nine great-grandchildren, Carter, Morgan, Hayden, Evan, Cooper, Ollie, Brooks, Reagan, and Adley. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edsel “Bill” Marr.

The family will receive friends for visitation at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Tecumseh, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 10:00 a.m.until the funeral service begins at 11:00 a.m. A committal service for both Dolores and John will follow in Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh, with Military Honors conducted to honor John’s service in the United States Army.
