Charles “Chuck” Randall, age 78, of Hudson, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at the Toledo Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 8, 1946, in Detroit to the late Harry and Maxine (Reynolds) Randall. Chuck graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1963. On November 10, 1984, Chuck married Debra Sanborn at Pittsford Wesleyan Church. They celebrated 40 wonderful years together just last month.
Chuck worked at Metalloy Diecast for 17 years. He then followed his passion for culinary arts and became the cook at the Brass Lantern restaurant. His passion for food service only grew from there and made Chuck decide to go back to school. After graduating from Jackson Community College with a culinary degree, he began working as the food service supervisor at Gus Harrison Correctional Facility in Adrian, working there for 20 plus years. As an avid NASCAR fan, Chuck also enjoyed working as a security guard at Michigan International Speedway and the Lenawee County Courthouse.
When he wasn’t working, Chuck loved to go hunting, fishing, trying his luck at the casino, playing Bingo with Debbie at the American Legion, and he loved watching Lions and Michigan football. Most recently, he thoroughly enjoyed watching Michigan beat Ohio State!! Above all, Chuck’s pride and joy were his grandchildren never missing a sporting event even though he didn’t always agree with the referee’s calls. Chuck was also very outgoing and never met a stranger. His friendly, fun-loving personality led to many jokes shared with everyone he met and will be missed deeply by all! Chuck is leaving a legacy behind. “Live a life like Chuck LIVED.”
To cherish his memory, Chuck leaves behind his loving wife, Debbie; two children, Doug Randall and Jenny (Steve) Tompkins; three grandchildren: McKenzee (Dakota) Heiden, Chase (Bella Bernier) Tompkins, and Kenadee (Ashton Ballach) Tompkins; two great grandchildren: Peighton Heiden and Braxton Ballach; brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Cindy Knox; three nephews: Gary Guenther, Patrick (Lyndsay) Knox, and Mike (Rose) Knox; and six great nieces and nephews: Anthony Guenther, Christian, Elizabeth, Lucy, Brendan, and Dylan Knox. In addition to his parents and grandparents, Chuck was preceded in death by Debbie’s parents, Glennis and Marge Sanborn, many aunts and uncles, and a great nephew, Noah Guenther.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
