Wanda “Lee” Horton, age 99, of Tecumseh, MI, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Hampton Manor of Adrian under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. She was born in Sullivan, Indiana, July 30, 1925, to John I. and Mary Pauline (Breedlove) Jones. On October 4, 1947, she married Frank I. Horton in Toledo, Ohio.
Lee lived in Tecumseh most of her life. She owned and operated her own Beauty Shoppe in Tecumseh and later worked for Ford Motor Company for twenty- five years, retiring from the Saline plant on September 1, 1987. She was a life member of Herrick Hospital Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, and the UAW 892 retirees.
Surviving Lee are her son, Tommy (Rita) Horton of Clinton; her grandchildren, Ben (Sara) Horton of Chicago, IL, and Kimberly (Joshua) Phillip of Tipton, MI; her great-grandchildren, Clare Horton and James Horton, both of Chicago, IL, and Kendall Phillip and Jaxon Phillip, both of Tipton, MI; and special friends, Judy Schonek of Milan, MI, and Lana Sue Staley of Point Place, OH.
In addition to her husband and parents, Lee was preceded in death by a son Ricky Frank, step-mom, Frieda Jones, and her brother, John Paul Jones.
Funeral services for Lee will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh, MI. Memorial contributions in honor of Lee may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.
