Raisin Charter Twp., MI – Raisin Charter Township has received a $400,000 award from The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, in recognition of their decision to host Beecher Solar.

The township was one of seven Michigan townships to have received a Renewables Ready Communities Award, the EGLE announced last week. RRC awards aim to accelerate the buildout of large-scale renewable energy projects – such as wind, solar, and storage – by providing flexible incentives to local units of government that permit and host such projects.

This second round of RRC awards, totaling $404 million, will support the deployment of enough clean energy to power more than 800,000 Michigan households and businesses.

Raisin Charter Township Supervisor Tom Hawkins expressed his thanks to the EGLE, saying, “This award will be extremely beneficial to the township for improving road projects, public safety, and other essential services for our residents.”
