She was born January 15, 1941, in Monroe, Michigan, the daughter of Howard and Irene (Schmidt) Feinauer and graduated from Dundee High School with the Class of 1959.
On April 22, 1961, she married Gilbert LaVoy at St. Irene’s Church in Dundee, and he preceded her in death in 2016. During their 55-year marriage, they raised four children and shared many adventures on the east coast traveling to see the lighthouses.
A faithful, active member of Lutheran Church of the Lakes, Nancy served in many capacities including singing in the choir and volunteering for the fish fries. Nancy sang in the Adrian Community Choir and made crafts for the Monroe County Fair. She was also a talented cook and baker, making pies for Kate and Emily’s Café, as well as cooking and canning for her family. After raising her family, Nancy worked for JC Penney in Adrian, retiring when the store closed with 26 years of service.
Surviving are her sons, Wade LaVoy, Jim (Connie) LaVoy and Robert (Dawn) LaVoy; grandchildren, Dana, Emilee, Katie, Jacob and Daniel; great grandchildren, Molly and Mary; and a sister, Diane Stark.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sonya Merrill, and sisters, Carol Majors and Joyce Meadows.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Lakes, 8800 N Rollin Hwy, Addison, MI 49220, with gathering being held one hour prior to the start of the service in the church.
