Loretta Pauline Peterson (Cunningham) passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024, at Arbor Manor Rehabilitation in Spring Arbor, Michigan. She was born on August 8, 1935, in Pittsford, Michigan, to Eber James Cunningham and Loceal Ruth Shull.
Loretta lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication. After graduating from Pittsford High School in 1953, she attended Jackson Business University, laying the foundation for a successful career. For over 35 years, Loretta made her mark at Consumers Power, where her hard work and commitment were appreciated by all who knew her.
On April 8, 1956, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Dean Peterson. Their union was one built on love and mutual respect, and she cherished every moment they spent together until his passing on January 21, 2020.
Loretta’s legacy is carried on by her two sons, Scott (Chris) Peterson of Horton and Lee (Dawn) Peterson of Addison; and her two daughters, Kendra Knepfler of Manitou Beach and Lucia Elston (Craig Leatch) of Addison. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren and a great-grandmother to fifteen great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Loretta is also survived by her brother, James (litz) Cunningham, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember her fondly.
Loretta was preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents and two sisters, Joanne Patrick and Dee Miller. Their absence leaves a void, but Loretta’s memories will forever be cherished by her family.
The funeral service will take place on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Brown Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison with Dr. Samuel E. Wickard officiating. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the funeral home. Loretta will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery in Hudson, Michigan.
