Ted was born on October 1, 1936, at home in Riga Twp., the son of Claude and Gertrude (Jacob) Mason. He grew up attending Blissfield Community Schools and graduated with the Class of 1955. After graduating, Ted went on to serve his country in the Army National Guard.
On August 12, 1966, Ted married Lois F. Eisenmann in Blissfield, MI and she survives. Ted and Lois have been blessed with over 58 years together; and were fortunate to raise their three children on the family farm where they instilled in them strong work ethics. Lois affectionately referred to Ted as the best farmer in Lenawee County as he took great pride in his work and taking care of the land.
Ted’s faith was a part of his daily life, and he was an active member of the First United Brethren Church. Over the years he held the role of treasurer and was on the Camp Michindoh Board. Ted was a good steward of the blessings bestowed upon him by the Lord and supported churches locally and missions abroad. He and Lois served as county delegates to the Farm Bureau annual meeting. Ted liked being physically active and had trophies that reflected his bowling and softball skills. He was an avid University of Michigan and Detroit Tigers fan. Ted’s strength came from his family, and he was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, Lois, Ted is survived by their children, Jolene (Brian) Nofzinger, Ted (Melanie) Mason and Leann (Michael) Cole; and seven grandchildren, Jacob (Rachel) Mason, Makayla Nofzinger, Courtney (Isaac) Horton, Luke Nofzinger, Madeline Cole, Nathan Cole and Mason Cole. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
