Fathy Farid (Fred) Ishac, 90, peacefully passed away on November 26, 2024, at Angela Hospice in Livonia, Michigan. He was with family and received many calls and goodbyes from family and friends. He was born September 5, 1934, in Cairo, Egypt to the late Farid and Fadila Ishac.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Safwat Ishak and survived by his brother Kamal (Claire) Ishaq and sister Samira (the late Agib) Ishak. Beloved father of Carmen (Neal) Brunette, Farid (the late Gail Jarvis) and Daniel (Javier), loving grandfather to Olivia (Chris) Oliva and Andrew (Karly) Webb. He was proud to be a great grandfather to Owen and Maya Oliva.  He was an adored uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his loving partner of over 30 years, Myrna Romain, her children Eric and Jennifer Romain and grandchildren Taylor, Mackenzie, and Gunnar Lombard. Fathy graduated, with honors, from Ibrahim Pasha University, Cairo, as a medical doctor. He traveled to the United States for his residency and met his former wife and friend, Nancy (Rellick-deceased). He soon settled in the United States and opened his own psychiatric practice; in which he practiced for over 50 years. He served on hospital boards and the Michigan Psychiatric Society. He had a thirst for travel. Many years he wintered in Jamaica. He visited Egypt many times to visit family. He traveled throughout Southeastern Asia including a trip with Andrew, and the Galapagos Islands with Olivia. He has been to Australia, most of the Caribbean, Europe, and driving vacations in the US. He took many cruises and experienced the world in luxury. He loved travel, not only for the places he saw, but the people he met and he came home with stories, memories and new friends. He loved playing backgammon; there was rarely a cube he wouldn’t take. Not only did he like to cook, but he loved to eat. Eating was an adventure with Fred because he had an unusual palate. He had a unique sense of humor and loved BBC’s British comedies. He loved to snorkel, read, nap (oh he loved a good nap!), the theater, a fine cognac, playing bridge, hosting guests, he was an avid believer in not exercising, he loved to debate and would often take a contrary side, just for the challenge. He was a storyteller, gardener and took special pride in his roses. An intelligent man, he often knew things that no one else knew. This came from a lifelong habit of learning and sometimes because he made up facts. Most important to him was family. He loved to have everyone visit, call and keep in touch. There was always food, stories, rich discussions and laughter. But most of all love. A generous man, it was hard to pick up a check with him around. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 10:45 AM at St. James Catholic Church, Novi, Michigan. The family will receive friends and family at 10: 30 AM. The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Angela’s Hospice or Mental Health America.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
