
Evelyn Marie (Stout) Beebe, age 94, died early Friday morning, November 29, 2024, at Promedica Toledo Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Evelyn was born on May 25, 1930, in Tecumseh, MI, the daughter of Bertram and Marjorie (Knowlan) Stout. She graduated from Adrian High School and went on to attend Cleary Business College. Evelyn received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in education from Siena Heights College.
On May 20, 1949, Evelyn married Donald Elwood Beebe and they celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary with their family this past Spring.
Evelyn taught 1st grade at Onsted Schools for twenty years. She enjoyed researching her family history but her greatest joy was being with her family and serving others. Evelyn was a member of the Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Church, where she held many leadership positions. She was a member of the Rome, Pomona, State and National Granges. She was active in many organizations: Farm Bureau, Clayton Woman’s Club, Lenawee County and State of Michigan retired teachers’ association, Delta Kappa Gamma, Daughters of the American Revolution, past president of the Optimist Club, Lenawee County Federation of Woman’s Club, a past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and a 4-H leader for Rome Blue Ribbons for 25 years. Evelyn and Donald were named Dairy Young Couple for the State of Michigan by the Michigan Milk Producers Association in 1961. In 1967, they were also inducted into the Farmer’s Hall of Fame for the State of Michigan.
She is survived by her loving husband, Donald; daughters, Linda (Donald) Tailleart of Mesa, AZ and Patricia Betzner of Cedar Park, TX; 9 grandchildren, Andrea Tailleart, Nicole Tailleart (Christoper Kelley), Danielle Tailleart, Noel Gauny, Braedon Betzner, Tyler (Micall) Merrell, Amanda (Brent) Lewis, Jenna (Chris) Fowler and William Merrell; 7 great-grandchildren, Connor, Collin, Caira, Clara, Margaret, Thea and Caspian; son-in-law, Lynn (Lori) Merrell; sister-in-law, Iris Stout, and several nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Donnette Beebe Merrell; brother, Dorman Stout; son-in-law, Stephen Betzner; grandson-in-law, Patrick Gauny; brothers-in-law, Wayne, Wells and Weldon; and sisters-in-law, Mildred, Donna and Alice Beebe.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints- 140 Sand Creek Hwy. Adrian, with Bishop Nik Berzkalns, and officiating by Bruce Gerlach. Burial will be private at East Rome Cemetery.
