Rick was born on June 21, 1957, in Tecumseh, MI, one of Richard E. and Margot L. (Schilling) Stuart’s seven children. Rick graduated from Tecumseh High School and went on to attend Washtenaw Community College where he earned his journeyman’s card as a machine repairman. In 1977, Rick started his apprenticeship at Hoover Ball and Bearing. His talent and skill as a journeyman were evident in his daily work ethic and his interactions with others. Rick started working for General Motors in 1985 at the former Pontiac Truck and Bus plant before transferring to Toledo Propulsion Systems.
On July 8, 1978, Rick married Jean Marie Webb and they were fortunate to share 41 years together before her death on June 15, 2020. Rick and Jean loved to travel and go camping with their three boys. Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in Freemont, IN, was one of their favorite campgrounds and Rick would go all out decorating for Halloween and Christmas celebrations.
Rick’s interest in cars had him buying and restoring several models over the years including a Volkswagen Beetle. He enjoyed tinkering around and fixing items that “needed his attention”. Rick was a true sports fan and could be found cheering for his University of Michigan Wolverines or in the stands cheering on his nieces and nephews at their different sporting events. Rick was the “cool uncle” and wore this title with pride. He always had sugar to share with the kids, with some of his favorites being Mt. Dew, Little Debbie snacks or candy.
He will be missed by his sons, Easton, Brandon and Andrew Stuart; siblings, Mary (Tony) Wilson, Ken Stuart, Ron Stuart, Michelle (Jane) Bassett, Randy Stuart and Annie Stuart; many wonderful nieces and nephews; great- nieces and nephews and cousins. Rick was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jean; and niece, Julie Briggs.
Following Rick’s wishes, cremation will take place with services pending at this time.
