Edward W. Jacobson, age 78, of Blissfield, passed away, surrounded by his family at his residence on Sunday, November 24, 2024. Ed was born in Detroit on May 20, 1946, to the late Carl E. and Onnilee J. (Greenwood) Jacobson. Ed attended and graduated from Blissfield Community Schools, he furthered his education at Ferris State University and after experiencing a spinal cord injury, attended the University of Toledo and went into teaching. On September 21, 1974, he married his love, Elaine B. Tasso in New York. They just recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Ed worked as a teacher for many years. Ed was a lover of anything sports – whether it be the Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Lions, or the Detroit Tigers. He attended many games, especially Michigan games at the Big House. But more importantly, he loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Ed was always one to remember a face or a name and enjoyed his daily “question of the day” teasers with his sister, Lee.
Ed is survived by his caring wife, Elaine, son, Charlie (Toni) Jacobson; daughter, Alison (Jon) Makarewich; grandchildren, Jayden, Braelynne, Reagan, Camryn, and Noel; sister, Lee (Douglas) Winkler; his cousin Alfred (Deke) Diedrich and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial visitation for Edward will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, from 3:00 – 5:00 PM, at the Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home in Blissfield. Memorial services will follow at 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation for spinal cord research (www.christopherreeve.org).
