Nathan Miles Horn passed away at the age of twenty-four on Sunday evening, November 17, in
Adrian, MI due to a tragic motorcycle accident so close to home. Born on March 31, 2000, at
Emma L. Bixby Hospital in Adrian, MI as the son of Miles D. Horn, Jr. and Teresa (Mallory) Horn.
He joined his siblings, Jolene and Kyle, who anxiously awaited his arrival. Nathan entered this
world and wooed the nurses with his looks at the onset, as they claimed he was quite possibly
the best-looking baby boy ever born.
Nathan spent his youthful days with much adventure and misadventure (if you asked his mom).
He grew into a young man known for his infectious smile, kind heart, handy skills, friendly
demeanor, and passion for motorcycles and cars. He always worked to expand his knowledge
of any and everything he could find challenging and had the analytical mind of an engineer to
think through minor and major things brought before him to come up with the “right” solution.
Throughout his life, Nathan worked in manufacturing as a die-setter/crane operator at Inteva
and most recently at Blue Steel Automotive where his mind, hands and tools challenged him to
fix anything presented to him in body fabrication, welding, painting, and mechanical needs. He
took pride in every project he completed and when asked, he never shied away from sharing his
opinion as “quality control.”
Nathan’s interests were as diverse as his skills. He played youth baseball, football, basketball,
bowling, and soccer. His favorite was soccer by far and he enjoyed when he had the opportunity
to serve his high school team as goalie. He enjoyed weightlifting, exercise, and was always
trying to better his physical self in life. He loved a good barbeque, campfires, camping, and
could be found traveling with his family to various locations in the USA and cruising the seas of
the Caymen Islands and Bahamas. He spent a few summers with his Uncle Alan, Aunt Janet,
and two cousins traveling the beautiful views along Route 66 as well as the Eastern shoreline.
Nathan especially loved taking in the sights of Wyoming, Tennessee, and Maine.
A lover of motorcycles, he owned a Honda Shadow (currently waiting for a new paint job) and a
twisted-cherry Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special that took him on travels that spoke to his
adventurous spirit, always seeking out new areas with friends even if it was just for a quick
weekend getaway; north, south, east or west, he would be there!
He also had a passion for his collection of various fishing rods/lures, knives, and guns. He
completed his sportsman hunter safety course (beating his Dad on the test), loved target-
shooting, and was looking forward to expanding his hunting skills.
Nathan loved being a daddy and his heart belonged to his young son, Darrell “Gideon” Miles
Horn, (16 months old) as he was so excited to share his passions, skills and eventually hand
over his tools to this little man as he grew.
Nathan was a free spirit and liked to make his own boundaries in life, yet he would instill
fairness for all and would speak up when needed. His friends and family knew we were not
handed a saint but rather one that rode the fringes of the best of all worlds. He liked to enjoy a
cold beverage of choice, chicken wings, and a good steak.
Nathan’s presence will be deeply missed by his parents, Miles and Teresa Horn, siblings Jolene
Horn (spouse Henry Bisnab), Kyle Horn, son Gideon Horn, and the mother of his child and best
friend, Shania Beevers.
He will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and coworkers. His friends were
more like his extended family and carried such a close bond with Nathan. A bond in friendships
that proved they all would do more than anything for each other.
Nathan was proceeded in death by his grandparents Miles and Dolores Horn, Sr, and Emery
and Betty Mallory as well as Uncle Roger Cox, Uncle David Sutton, Aunt Joanne and Uncle Bill
Atkinson, and Aunt Connie Bivins.
On the Horn side of the family, he leaves behind his Aunt Judy Demlow, Aunt Janet Cox, Aunt
Jeanette Sutton, and Uncle David Horn and numerous cousins.
On the Mallory side of the family: Uncle Chuck (Aunt Pat) Mallory, Aunt Janet (Uncle Alan)
Morgenthaler, Uncle Tom Bivins, Uncle Keith (Aunt Angela) Mallory, Aunt Kathy (Uncle Devon)
Strine, Uncle Tom (Aunt Mary) Mallory and numerous cousins.
