Adrian, MI – Lenawee County has announced that Tammy Sheldon, Director of the Lenawee County Department of Veterans Affairs, has been named Michigan’s Veterans Service Provider of the Year by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency. The announcement was made at the Michigan Military & Veterans Gala earlier this month.

Tammy was selected for this recognition by an independent panel of judges in acknowledgment of her exceptional dedication to serving veterans and their families. Having joined Lenawee County on October 4th, 1982, Tammy recently celebrated 42 years of service.

Reflecting on this milestone, Tammy shared, “Serving our nation’s heroes and advocating for the benefits they deserve has been my passion for over 42 years. While I may not have served in the military, I see my work as a way of giving back and expressing my gratitude to those who have made great sacrifices for our country. This recognition means so much to me, but it’s the privilege of serving veterans that has always been my greatest reward.”

Lenawee County Administrator Kim Murphy congratulated Tammy on this well-deserved honor: “Tammy’s commitment to serving veterans and their families is unparalleled. She has been a cornerstone of Lenawee County for over four decades, ensuring that our veterans receive the benefits and support they have earned. We are incredibly proud of her dedication, leadership, and the recognition she has received as Michigan’s Veterans Service Provider of the Year.”
