Adrian, MI – The parents of the Adrian teen who was struck by a car in August have shared an update on their son’s condition and announced a benefit dinner in his honor.
15-year-old Dakota Courington is no longer in a coma after being struck by a still-unidentified SUV on August 9th, but he did lose oxygen for 16 minutes after his tracheotomy tube became blocked.
Dakota has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, and doctors are optimistic that he may recover some brain function due to his young age.
WLEN News spoke with Dakota’s father Jack, who wishes to thank the residents of Lenawee County for showing up to support his son during his recovery.
A spaghetti dinner will by held at the Adrian Eagles Lodge on 2570 West Beecher Street in Adrian, on Friday, November 22nd, from 3 to 6 PM. The cost to attend is $10 and all proceeds will go towards Dakota’s medical expenses.
