Arrest Made in Adrian During Blissfield Suspected Overdose Death Investigation

Lenawee County, MI – An Adrian man was arrested and arraigned on multiple charges (14 in total) including controlled substance delivery/manufacturing, felony firearms-possession, and maintaining a drug house.

43-year-old Eric Cooper (pictured, right) was arrested as a result of a search warrant executed by the Michigan State Police Region of Irish Hills Narcotics Office (R.H.I.N.O.), which stemmed from a suspected overdose death in the Village of Blissfield.

The Blissfield Police Department says that they responded to a report on Thursday, November 7th of a person who was unconscious, and later passed away. He was identified as Paul Jones.

As a result of the search warrant executed on November 7th at the 1100 block of South Main Street in Adrian (Friendly Village Mobile Home Park), Cooper was arrested and numerous handguns, rifles, and cash were seized. Suspected heroin, cocaine and Fentanyl were also seized, with an estimated street value of $100,000.

The investigation into the overdose death is ongoing and will be investigated separately. Police want to be clear that Cooper was arrested for possession with intent to deliver and felony firearm charges.

There is a probable cause conference scheduled for Cooper November 19th in Lenawee County District Court. A ruling on the cause and manner of Paul Jones’ death is pending a complete autopsy and toxicology screening by the Lenawee County Medical Examiner.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact either the Village of Blissfield Police Department, R.H.I.N.O. Task Force, or Crime Stoppers of Lenawee County.
