Adrian City Commission Approves Changes to Vacant Buildings Ordinance

Adrian, MI – The City Commission unanimously approved amendments to the City’s vacant buildings ordinance designed to enhance its effectiveness.

While the City has required registration for, and exterior inspections of, vacant buildings in the City for many years, the amendments will also require regular, interior inspections of those structures.

The City has found that neglect of unoccupied buildings by their owners can lead to deterioration that renders the buildings unsalvageable over time.

By periodically inspecting building interiors, the department expects to be able to require repairs that stave off these effects in time to save such structures.

The amended ordinance will go into effect on November 5th. Read the Ordinance from the City of Adrian website here: https://cms8.revize.com/revize/adrianmi/Document%20Center/Agendas%20and%20Minutes/2024/Minutes/MEETING%20MINUTES%2010-21-2024.pdf
