Kay Katherine Miller, age 80, of Adrian, MI, died Friday morning, October 18, 2024, at Adrian Bay Rehab and Nursing Center, with the love and support of her family and under the care of Hospice of Lenawee.
Kay was born on March 6, 1944, in Lyons, Ohio, the youngest of eight children to Clayton P. and Georgiana (Herring) Mowery. As you can imagine, there was a lot of excitement going on in the Mowery home with eight children and Kay was on the receiving end of much love and teasing being the baby in the family.
On June 15, 1961, Kay married her sweetheart, Harold Miller, in Adrian, MI, and they were blessed with 36 years together before his passing in 1997. Kay and Harold were not only spouses, they were best friends and truly enjoyed doing many activities together. They could be competitive while playing a game of Euchre and supportive of one another in solving crossword puzzles. You could typically find the two of them outside gardening or inside relaxing while watching a Detroit Tigers baseball game. They treasured their role of grandparents and always had time to spend with their granddaughter, Jordan.
Kay worked at several local businesses during her career and appreciated her time and the friendships she made at Ace Hardware, Adrian College and Lenawee Development.
Kay will be missed by her daughter, Lori (Steve) Kellie; brothers, Merlin (Wilma) Mowery and Charles Mowery; and her faithful canine companion, Sophie. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; son, Steve Miller; and a daughter in infancy (twin sister to Lori); granddaughter, Jordan Kellie; her sister, Rosella, who she was very close to and died 2 weeks ago on October 4; brothers, Kenneth Mowery, Robert Mowery (twin brother to Rosella), John Mowery and James “Jim” Mowery.
Following Kay’s wishes, cremation will take place. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lenawee Humane Society or the American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank Adrian Bay and Hospice of Lenawee for the care and compassion that they provided to Kay.
