
Glenn Charles “Smokey” Williams, Jr., age 81, passed away in Hillsdale, Michigan late Thursday, October 17, 2024. He was born to Glenn Charles and Ellen (Freddy) Williams, Sr. on July 21, 1943, in Addison, Michigan.
Smokey was a graduate of Cement City High School. After graduation he married the love of his life, Ruby Mae Phelps. Smokey was a hard-working family man working as a contractor in construction all his life. He instilled that hard-working mentality in all his children. In his down time, you could find Smokey out hunting, fishing, chopping wood or attending a square dance on the weekend with his family. He loved the outdoors. Later in life, you could find Smokey and Ruby going camping or having a quiet night at home together enjoying life.
Left to cherish the memory of Smokey are his wife, three sons, Kurt (Deborah) Williams, Brent (Annette) Williams,
Kevin (Brett Krutzsch) Williams; daughter, Darcie (David) Oudbier, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Randy DeFay, Bruce (Emma) Williams; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Suzie Craft, and sister-in-law Lois DeFry.
Visitation for Smokey will be on Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Brown-VanHemert Funeral Home in Addison. Visitation will also take place on Monday, October 21, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. prior to funeral service. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Brown-VanHemert Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Aldrich Cemetery West.
